    Sand

I was very surprised at how quickly i got my water to settle. I changed from gravel to sand, all at once, after washing the sand in buckets multiple times. When I noticed the water wasn't clearing up on it's own, I started to siphon it out and do water changes in about 2.5 gallon increments...

    Sand

is turning on the filters and pump a bad idea when it's cloudy? it's not really sand floating around, i think it's just the leftover dust that didn't get washed off the sand...

    Sand

I currently have medium gravel substrate in my tank, and i want sand. I ordered 60 LBS of white carribean live sand for about $40. But today i got an idea today that made me think: I live near water. Could i use beach sand for my tank? I figure it's probably the same kinda stuff they use of...

    Powerhead?

Ok, Thanks. I also saw they had some smaller ones of the same brand. (2) 800 GPH pumps, for a total of 1600 GPH instead of 2600 GPH with the bigger ones. There's only a couple dollars difference between the two. Anyone think (2) 800 GPH's be okay in a 29?

    Powerhead?

I have a cheap petco powerhead, King 160 - from what I can read on the bottom of the unit. I assume it's moving 160 GPH. I also assume that it's not enough for my 29 gallon tank, so I'm looking at using a combination of 2 powerheads. I found these on eBay and was wondering if i could get some...

    Reef Tank

Here's some picture if what this gentleman's tank is. It's been active for about 2 years now. It's a 75 gallon mixed tank with a 2-inch sandbed, some live rock, a few coral species, a clownfish, 3 damsels, a blenny, and around 80-100 snails/small crabs. As far as equipment goes...

    Reef Tank

I assume the water will still be in good shape once i get it home. You mentioned a 15% water change. Does that mean I should make up some saltwater and add it when it's ready? Or just add pure water? :dunno

    Reef Tank

Hey guys. So I found an ad on Craigslist while looking for tank supplies. An older man is selling his 75 gal tank, with live rock, corals, fish, accessories, supplies, everything for a complete setup. I spoke with him over the phone about it earlier. I'm waiting on the pictures to be sent, so I...

    Hello

I recently started a saltwater tank after my long time interest in the beauty of saltwater tanks. Unfortunately, like others, I'm limited by budget and by Navy barracks regulations. So I'll have to work around that. Looking forward to advice and extra help. Thanks -mike
