Oh--i really do want it....just considering our crappy bad luck/lack of experience combined with pure neglect of the tank I felt sure it could not possibly be anything 'good'....:D

Whew--thanks! :bowdown: This tank has been going for about a year now. Had the original "tank disaster" after moving it. Shut the whole thing down, started over. Got the RO filter installed....ditched the canister filter and placed a fine skimmer.... and then BAM--Life happened. Had so much...

Is this just some massive coralline growth? Or have I deluded myself and actually witnessing some sort of disaster. Originally I thought it was 'pretty'--now kind of irritated and fearing it is gonna 'gum up' my skimmer and everything else....any thoughts? P.S. Just learning the new camera.....:^:

Howdy folks......been away from LR for a while. My dad passed away Monday 2-14-11.....(he was 90 years old). Miss him terribly. But, he did enjoy coming to my house and admiring the tank!! I am wanting to get a new camera (for many different reasons) . Obviously wanting to take some good shots...

As someone told me--just a few weeks ago...."Nothing like jumping into a really expensive hobby on the cheap".... I am soooo new at this the ONLY advice I could give would be--thumbs up to the Reef Octopus HOB skimmer. Just got one 2 weeks ago and while it is still 'breaking in' we have had NO...

I now have my HOB skimmer going for over 2 weeks..beginning to pick up some gunk. I had asked on another thread about unplugging the canister and got some great advice. Question now: If I empty the canister and just use if for a extra powehead--can I put some of my live rock rubble in there...

If I remove all the media from the canister and use it as a powerhead--could I put some of the live rock rubble in the canister? Will it still require 'cleaning' with the live rubble in it?

Thanks-----since hubs thinks the canister is such a wonderful thing...maybe I will give it to him for "his" tank along with the heater....

Maybe I didn't describe it correctly--the gray tube on the outside of the tank pulls water thru the black tube (heater) in the tank....from there the warmed water goes to the canister and back out..... P.S. My clown fist is such a 'ham'.......(or hog--thinks I am gonna feed him....lol[/ATTACH]

Ah-ha!!!! Great idea....my hubs thinks the canister is harmless ---I believe otherwise.....He is thinking about starting his "own" tank"...... I might give the canister to him...... I will look at the heater set-up and figure it all out.

P.S.---the hose that pulls water from the tank to the canister runs "through" the heater (hollow tube)...then thru the canister and back out that spray thingy....will the heater still work?

OK guys--I have had the protein skimmer going for 2 weeks now...still adjusting it a bit but so far no HUGE issues. It seems to take spells of pulling out a lot af cloudy looking water...but no real "nasty gunk" I hear others talk about. My question for right now is: When can I lose the...

Thanks soooo much you guys--just one more dumb question: Can I stack my rocks against the back glass? With the rocks in place I cannot 'scrub' the glass......will the mess go away on its own?

Will I mess things up if I scrub the tank glass??? Just too funky to look at and not do anything......

Actually---I am soooooo dang proud that I was able to post the pics I sorta don't even care about the rusty stuff now.........:bounce:

Using RODI water for over a month---might be a tiny percent of tap water in the entire mix.

Yeah--some of them will "wave off"--other places I have to gently rub my finger over it..trying to post a couple of mediocre photos.....
