How about if I made sure the leds were watertight with silicon or something? And the only other thing is the heat sinks which are aluminium so no probs there. I know its a lot of effort, but i think it would really increase the brightness in the tank. ANd i wont put the actual leds underwater...

I plan to do something similar for a display tank if i'm going to get up and running, i think that I will have my optics just touching the surface of the water though as apparently the light that actually make it to the corals, inverts, fish or whatever is far greater as none of it is lost...

Looking at lighting possibility's recently i have stumbled across LED lighting. Pre-built LED lighting is ridiculously expensive however it seems as if i could make one for about the same as it would cost for a fluorescent setup. Reading forums i have seen Cree are the best LED's for the job...

Aussie Aussie Aussie! (Australia haha) Its really hard because theres not many salt water tank suppliers here. I only have around two or three LFS that do salt water. Also what is the minimum i should be spending on a protein skimmer?
