Hi all, I am suddenly having a red algae problem...especially on the sand and not on the live rock....my tank's about 8 months old and everything was fine all along...any idea why it's happening and what I should do to fix it? I have attached a picture also.... Thank you for your help! Ram

funny...i got a pair of clowns yesterday (ocellaris) and they are both swimming vertically at the surface near the pump...so dorito and cheeto still exhibit the same behavior?

the lid was never left open and I also checked the back champers of the biocube...it looks like the newer versions of the biocube have some kind of a protection and fish dont jump in there anymore...wont it eventually float on the surface?

I have three yellow tail damsels and one of them seems missing for the last 2 days. I am not sure if its dead. I have 45 pounds of live rock in my 29G biocube and I am not sure if I should disturb of all them to find this guy. So if he is dead, would my cuc take care of it? I hope he is...

All, I got two cleaner shrimps last wednesday (mail order from CA - I live in MD) and ever since I introduced my shrimps into my tank, one of them is missing. I saw that one go underneath a rock but it never came out. Is it molting? I mean, does it molt for so long? Assuming the worst case...

Dear All, One of my cleaner shrimps has molted...since I am new to the salt water tanks, I am totally confused. I mean, does the 'exoskeleton' look like the real animal itself? Also, should I remove that from my tank or leave it be as 'food'? I mean, who would eat that? Thanks, Ram

yes...live rock and live sand were used to start the cycle...

Also, how can I find the hermits that may have died? Do I have to take them out of the tank?...with the live rock I have, it is almost not possible to find the dead ones...

Thanks Josh! I feel better now...I will change 50% water tomorrow morning like you suggested and keep the thread posted...would the water change bring the phosphates down too?

I have live rock and live sand to cycle the tank...I don't have shrimp but have about 10 hermit crabs that I added 2 weeks back...I have a protein skimmer... I am not using tap water...I am buying filtered water from a local pet store...I will check the nitrate levels on that water like...

I am actually doing water changes once a week now...I did three times a week for the first two weeks and once a week now for the next three...I just finished my 5th week of cycling... Can I do anything else to bring those levels down? Sure, I will do 50% water change tomorrow and see...
