I feel guilty too... but my budget can't handle the LFS sometimes.

I have a 55 gal tank and had 2 550s. They did not have nearly enough flow.... I added a Vortec MP40w on one side and put the 2 550s on the other side. still not enough flow... so i put a marineland 900 and a 550 on one side... perfect. :)

Last time I got a bundle of chaeto, calupera, and some red grape algae (maybe). I have a Coralife Refugium t5 12" light. I run it 12 hrs overnight.

I have an Aqueon model 2 sump and I use the middle chamber as a refugium. I keep macro algae in there but it disappears slowly over time and I need to buy more. Is this normal?

That makes sense - cost-benefit analysis... :) I'll start doing that to see what I can get them down to. After the first cycle everything was 0, but then I got lazy with water changes and up they went. I could kick myself for that.
