8k vs 10k vs 15k

Can anyone explain the difference between the three light ratings? Basically, I understand the blue spectrum becomes a little more prevalent as the rating gets higher. But in regards to coral growth vs show lighting, any preferences/proven knowledge that you guys would be able to pass on? I'd appreciate it

It's been a while since I researched this but basically the lower the Kelvin the faster things tend to grow which would include algae. When you get higher in the Kelvin the light gets bluer but corals tend to color up more. I am sure there is a more technical answer out there but that is all I can remember.
