I have a crocea clam in my 46. He kept throwing himself off the rock onto the sandbed, now I am sure he is anchored there. How can I get him off when I am ready to transfer him to the 180?

Second, one of the times he fell off the rock, he left a quarter sized chunk of his foot. This was several months ago now, so I'm not too worried about whether or not he'll make it. Rather, the chunk of foot is still attached to the rock, and is still "alive". It reacts to touch by retracting, then opens up again! Any expert opinion on this?

Gently slide the clam back and forth.Just enough to put some pressure on the foot in each direction. It may take a few minutes, but it'll turn loose without damaging the foot.

Gently press on its foot with a butter knife. They hate the feel of metal, and this usually causes them to let go quickly.
