A Sponge?

This has been in my tank for almost a year. It started off very small maybe the size of a dime. Now it is huge! Should I keep it around or is it something I should put and end to? Starting to take up a lot of space and it grows fast.

You can pull it off if it's bothering you. It's not harmful, though, if that's what you're asking.

It's just strange...white blob hanging from the rocks. Is it beneficial to filtration or anything? Would it get some color if I put it in the light or is it just white by nature?

The white sponges that grow in the shady areas are just that... white sponges.

It is a filter feeder, so it's helping you out there. It would most likely just wither away if you put it in the light, sponges are non-photosynthetic so putting it in the light wouldn't cause it to "color up".
