Advice on skimmer

I'm starting a 220g reef tank with a 75g sump. I'm looking for a new skimmer. I can't decide which brand is better. reef octo, bubble magus or ATB. the ATB is the most expensive while the reef octo is the cheapest. I'm looking to spend anywhere in the neighborhood of $1000 bucks.

Spend half of your budget on the skimmer and the rest to me..?

I would go with the best you can afford.

I have a Reef Octopus (not that model) in the sump of my 180 and I really like it. I think a lot of others have and like Reef Octopus skimmers also. I don't have any experience with the other brands you listed but they are probably good also. I would check to see if you can find any consumer reviews and make a decision from there. When I upgrade the skimmer on my 60 I'm gonna go with a Reef Octopus HOB, I like their quality. My :twocents:

If it was me, I'd go with the Bubble Magus. If for nothing more than the pump. The others are good quality skimmers as well.
