advice on switching to new tank

cheato is a macro algae that will use up the nitrates and phosphates in your water column, which cause ugly algae to grow.

phosban is chemical product you buy that will take phosphates out of the water.

I dont think you would be able to find either at a typical pet store, but many lfs carry that stuff.

Just out of curiosity, what do you have in your tank now? (Fish wise)

a damsel a clown and a peppermint shrimp with about six pounds of live rock

Both of those fish are really tough and will most likely survive a mini cycle, but the pep is quite a bit more sensitive.
