auto top off set up

Recently tried to set up the JBJ ATO system just like this picture shown on fostersmith website, but the water level difference between my reservoir and sump is siphoning the water back. Any ideas??? (other than setting up with the return nozel and drilling a hole to break the siphon). Wondering if anyone else has this issue.

If the water is siphoning back into the resevoir, simply move the line up and out of the water so when it shuts off, it can't suck any water out.
