Hey Biffer, nice pics! Question...in the photo with the pink zoas, what is the shiny orbs in the background? I have them next to some zoas, too. Coffeebean
 
I do love it, I do!! I still have to get some kinks worked out with the photo editing though. Some of the pictures are left grainy. Maybe I crop too close? Catherine's class will help with that.
 
What settings are you using?

Set the aperture to the smallest number you can, that will allow the most light into the camera. Which on your 18-55 is 3.5. It will make for a more shallow depth of field but you will possibly be able to turn down the iso a little
 
Biff,Heres a tip that I learned from Catherine.
When your shooting pics,get a note and write down all your settings you used for each shot.Then you can go back and look at each one.
It'll help you figure out which settings work best in different shots.
 
Gently remove them with tweezers. Don't pop them in the tank (that's how they spread). If you can, remove the rock, and pull the bubble algae off outside of the tank.
