Build a sump

I want to build a sump for my 55 gal. Only thing is I dont have alot of room under my tank. Would a 10 gallon tank be ok? Might be able to squeeze a 20 gal in there but not sure. Also anybody have any ideas on how i should make it? I dont really know how to make one.

you can certainly use a 10g but, you should try and fit the biggest one you can in there. Check out some of the Refugium builds in the DIY section. They have lots of pics and tips there.

Measure your stand opening, and the space in there. Make sure you can fit it, I had to put mine in and then turn it, but in my awesome genius planning i figured almost everything, except that when you turn the sump it gets a little taller , ooops, had to cut the stand a little anyway, didnt like using a jsawzall 2" below my glass. I got it in there. Maesure twice cut once???? lol at myself. Any size sump is better than no sump at all.

Any sump is better than no sump even if it is a 10g. It will still add a little more water volume and keep you equipment out of the DT.

Haha I'm not a very good carpenter (sp?) either. Gonna check out some of these diy's and see what I can come up with.
