hey guys!
all my corals in my tank are doing great, except for two button polyp frags i have. they wont open for anything and then if i move them into the shade they will open up kinda halfway. i dont have a super bright light, just an aquatic life 4 lamp and have had the corals for about two months. any suggestions?

i will post pictures in a little bit

Sounds like you answered your own question...some zoas prefer the shade, and some prefer lots of lights. So keep them in lower light, and see how they do for you. :)

ok thanks smitty.
Also- I have a zoa frag that has been doing really well and growing very fast but then all of a sudden one day, the lower half of it that recieves less light started staying closed. I would try and pry it up and fix it so all of it is in direct light but it has started to grow out onto the rock. Any suggestions?

It could also be a flow related issue, zoas/palys have widely varied lighting and flow requirements.

I have similar "button polyps"(protopalyathoa) that LOVE high flow and high light. you might need to experiment with your placement.

alright, thanks everybody. and ya waddi, theyve been in my tank for about 5 or 6 months... but i did just switch from a 2 bulb fixture to a 4 bulb?
