Cerith snail righting technique

Was just watching my tank and saw something that was pretty neat that i thought i'd share.

I've found random clumps of sand around my sandbed but have never thought much of it...

But today i was watching the tank and one of the fish knocked a cerith off the wall of the tank and it landed on it's back... there was nothing close by for him to grab onto so he started collecting sand into a small ball and presumably bonding it together with mucus. He then used the little now hard ball of sand as a support to pull himself upright.

Was very neat to watch and thought i'd share because i enjoy reading the post on here that go "wow my new fish/coral/invert did .... "

Hahaha! That is cool! I've never seen that before. Guess that settles it - they do have turbo snails beat in the intelligence department. :D

I've been wondering what those lumps of dark sand in my tank were.

Cool that they do that, instead of lying there until they're dead.
