im new enough that you guys really do help with my questions, and i do appreciate it!
My newest question is about a piece of my live rock<under another piece> has opened like a clam or something, and there white meaty stuff below it, some looks chewed some looks tubular and coiled, what is it?
I have attached a picture of the open piece.
9 week old tank, no fish yet, all good tests, and this thing opened and came out probly cause i didnt feed it? who knows, I never knew it was in there and it has never opened before. I have stared at this thing numerous times and never seen this thing open.

some type of bivalve. mussle, cocle, etc. remove the white stuff and watch for others. not uncommon on live rock. filter feeders.

They will use water around to get there food.In your water there is stuff like zoo and pytoplankton. As your tank matures and your have coral.you will need to dose your tank with phyto and zoo plankton
