Colonial Hydroids Dead?

So, I had a few chunks of live rock that I got from my LFS a long time ago. They successfully seeded my tank with Colonial Hydroids (:frustrat:). I pulled them both out obviously not before it seeded my tank as well. They have been sitting in open air for almost 6 months now fully dried. I took them home and boiled them for about 32 minutes and now they are fully dry again. I am in need of some smaller chunks of rock, but I am nervous about putting them back in my tank.

I have seen some people blow torch the spot after boiling. Is that over kill or necessary step?

I think that is overkill, the rocks should be fine to use now.

I hope so...I have to boil another few colonies I just found tonight. These things are such trouble!
