Death by coral

no not human death, but hermit crabs. It seems that I have lost several hermits over the last year due to me finding them "zapped" by corals. One stupid one got stuck between my duncan stems and couldn't get out and I couldn't get him out without mashing up my duncan heads. Another one crawled onto my pagoda coral when the (polyps, not sure if the right word) came up and he was stuck there and when I removed him he wasn't alive. Now my electric blue legged hermit who was my fav in the tank and quite big crawled onto my frogspawn and when I went to move him off off of it he was dead. Is this common?

I have never had that happen either. I would think their exoskeleton would stop any stinging from happening. Unless they just molted maybe.

Hermits like to crawl onto corals and other hard to get to places to molt. Are you 100% sure your was dead?
