Dust/Particles in water

I have the aquaclear HOB filter with LR rubble and cheato. I do have a sponge in there that I clean thoroughly every week.

I seem to be accumulating this dust looking stuff on the rocks and so I have been slowly using the turkey baster to blast it off. Well now its just all stuck in the fuge all over the cheato and sponge and every time I move the cheato or remove the sponge it pours into the tank.

1. What is this dust? Detritus??

2. How do I get rid of it?

It makes my wate always look dirty and I even spent 11 bucks on chemipure and it didnt do anything

The dust is normal. You may want to replace that sponge with a small filter sock. I would think you could also get some oily fiber pad, cut it to fit on top of the sponge, and clean it every couple days.

I have 2 Koralia nano 425gph and my filter water flow is pretty freaking strong its the aquaclear 70.

My tank is only 27g. Is that enough??
