The alternate use has any body had any suckses with the adding directly 1 teaspoon for 100 gallons twice weekly? I have done it and mabe im lucky but i dont have to do water changes clean the glass or feed my fish its one big self sustaining ecosystem.

I wouldnt bet on it.
You may be getting by like that for now,but its eventually gonna go south.Without the water changes,theres no way to get rid of the waste products.Also I doubt the mud is replacing all the trace elements that the tank needs for long term health.
