filter vs fish

Can anybody give me advise or ideas on keeping the fish away from the filter
one of my fishes got to close to it and got stuck on it, i have a55gallon saltwater tank with a dual top fin 60 filter,thanks any advise will be greatly appreciated

What kind of fish is it?
With the intake grate in place, only the smallest or sick fish would get sucked into the filter intake.

It was a firefish goby

It had to have been sick, unhealthy, dead or dying already. Normal, healthy fish do not get stuck to even the strongest pumps in our tanks. It sucks, but if I were you, I'd not worry about it -- unless your other fish are not in good shape, I think it's a one time thing with the firefish.
