I just set up a 29g sump for my 55g FLOWLR tank. I have a Reef Octopus hang on back skimmer im using now. I have an algae turf scrubber (going 3wks), and my skimmer on the DT. I would like for the skimmer to be in the sump but the piping is not long enough. My question is, I have green alage growing with small patches of red cyano growing on the rocks. I have diminished my light times, and feed my fish every other day. Should I look into getting a bigger skimmer?

No, just let your scrubber get established, it will deal with the algae in time.
