Frustrated With SPS

I think you guys beat me to it, but SPS will die if you quickly increase or decrease the lighting. I have 400W MH and no LFS ever uses those, so I start my acros on the bottom of the tank in the shade. I leave them there until I see the polyps. Then I move them into the direct light. I leave them there until i see polups come out. Then I move them up a little bit....then a bit more...then a bit moooore, until they are at the top (or where I want them).

So, I think this fits in with CCapts advice that acros like stability. For that reason your acclimation should be a long and slow process as you transition them from the LFS bag water to your tank. And try not to touch them too much when you move them about. I think hand oil is bad (but that may just be my superstition. Come to think of it, this hobby is like 60% scieince, and 20% superstition, and 20% luck).

Don't give up. getting an acro to grow is so rewarding it is worth the struggle.
