Having a spike now that I put the zoas in. Ammonia .25 nitrites 1.0. Everything else is where it should be. Did I kill those poor zoas?

Zoas shouldn't have spiked the parameters. It was probably something else. Maybe the cycle wasn't complete to begin with, or you stirred up some detritus on the rocks and sand. Zoas are tough. I think they will pull through just fine.

Thanks Biff. I'm sure the nasarius snails are stirring up stuff in the sand too. How much clean up crew should be in a 10 gallon? And what? I'd prefer no hermits. I'm partial to my snails and would not be happy if they got eaten.

Maybe 5 nassarius and 5 astraea snails. You don't need too many. If you see that they can't keep up, you can add a couple more. A serpent or brittle star would be good too.
