Heavy's 8 Gallon Biocube Build/Do-Over

Your tank looks great Heavy!

Mysis comes in different sizes.Small fish will appreciate the smaller mysis like the Hikari brand and mini-mysis from H2O.

With a few corals in the tank, you shouldn't have to dose as long as you are keeping up with water changes. But you would need to check your alkalinity and calcium to know for sure.

Any particular brand mysis I should check for? And in yalls opinion should I consider dosing or not?

I use PEMysis...everybody eats it, I haven't personally taken a nibble of it, but the fish seem to like it. I use the frozen flat packs.

They suppose to have the most nutritional value.I didn't recommend PE Mysis because they are so big.I feed it to my brains but my anthias wants nothing to do with those jumbo mysis.Have you notice how oily they are PRC?It stops my protein skimmer from producing skimmate for a couple of hours.

Everything is sounding good, but you need to post some pics! I have the same kind of coral zoas frogspawn and other stuff. They all do ok with weekly water changes. I did notice once I started to feed mysis once a week, and
Reef Plus - Concentrated vitamin and amino acid supplement everthing really got better, brighter, and started to grow! Is that a scooter dragonet in your tank? I live in houston, and I'm always out and about so you can bring some water and ill test it for you.

well i went to pick up some Brightwell Aquatics CoralAmino after hearing good things about it on a nano forum. i think my tank likes it but time will tell.

thnx elpescador. where at in houston are you?

I dodge those SeaChem test kits like they have the plague.Way over priced and I've seen dip strips that were more accurate.
You'd be better off to use API kits for your basics. They'll get you plenty close enough and are fairly cheap.

thnx yote, let me ask you this....should i concern myself everytime sand gets on my zoos or hammer? cuz i have a dragster for a blue damsel, who does burnouts.

Ya,use the API basic kit.Does as well as other brands for alot less money. For the most part the zoas and hammer will be fine, brush the sand off. There is a rare chance that constant stress on the hammer can cause brown jelly infection. Can you move the hammer higher up.

It is looking good. I have a Biocube 29. I have chamber 2 full of cheato with a strong light and it really helped bring my trates way down.
