lol. its not all that. i already messed up BAD and killed my live sand. i ran out of marine salt, realized i have to mix it bucket by bucket,

and used my old FW fish water to use with the salt. didn't know that the good bacteria if FW is bad for SW. so killed everything in the tank that i started with. not even a day in and killing everything

Rinse the sand off with a hose and start all over with it. It will be fine. :)

I think the bigger issue with starting with old freshwater tank water is going to be nitrates, phosphates and other algae feeding compound in the water. You could end up with a serious algae problem.

ya i had serious nitrate problems. luckily a local guy on reefjunkees.com helped me out alot. but still wasted a bunch of salt and time. redoing the whole process now.
