It will live your DT for up ti 8 weeks WITHOUT fish. So to totally remove it from your system you have to leave your DT without fish for that time, while treating your fish with either hypo or copper in a quarantine tank. Then you have to quarantine any new fish in a quarantine for several weeks to make sure that they are ich free.
So just putting them in a bucket with that stuff wont do anything, besides stress them out

I would recommend an oversized UV light on your system. Lots of people swear by them and have no outbreaks with them.
