Nope, you don't need to do anything to control the pods. They will get eaten by almost every type of fish you add. And when they're not being eaten, they will be helping to keep the tank clean and your water quality high.

Coolness... I'll go get some peppermint shrimp and turbo snails tomorrow... My hermit crabs are gettin huge too.. there r a lot of them in there as well

I thought if i had inverts, i needed to feed them the waste from the fish? I guess not. And yea, what are xenia?

crab i believe.. i took him out shortly after

I hope you took out the dead damsel, not the crab. The fish might have died because your tank wasn't cycled at that point.
