When I empty my cup and see the crap that my skimmer pulls out, it reconfirms that I would never go skimmerless.
Is a skimmer needed ?

I do not have a skimmer and my 'trates are un-measurable but I am not going to knock skimmers. They can take a lot of crud out of the water.
Without a skimmer I rely a lot on the cheato in my fuge. I have two 15 watt halogen lights on it and on the occasion that one of the lights burned out over my fuge, in 24 to 48 hours I began to see the corals start to get a bit bleachy. I keep backup cheato in a separate FOWLR tank.

Any good HOB skimmers? Ppl tell me a skimmer won't be that important for me but it'd be a nice Christmas present.

I've been using one and like it alot. The only problem I have with it is there are a lot of microbubbles, I take care of it with a filter sock though.

Ouuu the BH-100 looks pretty nice and so does the price. Could I replace my HOB filter with it or just use both?

I would take the filter off and use the skimmer instead if it were me.
