ok did some parameter testing and this is what i got

didnt bother with ammonia because the way i see it nitrites are the next step in the cycle after ammonia so yeah....once nitrites go down then ill test for ammonia and nitrates

reading:
trites >1
pH 7.8
salinity 1.020

on the nitrites the damn test is the highest it goes to i know its higher that but like i said its the highest reading it shows

i think i need to add a little salt

anyway ill post the rest of the reading when im not to sleepy

i was thinking of purchasing a lighting fixture for my tank from liveaquaria

they only have one 24 inch fixture that is decently priced and produces 48 watts which would produce about 1.6 watts per gallon

and the they have another fixture that is 36inches long and produces 78watts = 2.6wpg

the question i have is if i center the 36 inch light system on top of the tank i will have 6 inches off on each side
would that be ok or would that be wasted energy ??

I would go with a MH pendant from fish need it;lights; food;Sponge instead. The 150 watt pendant would be perfect for a 30 gallon tank.
