Just for fun

far too busy at this time to test all that stuff every night. sorry man. the only thing im interested in checking at this point is my mag. btw what mag test kit are you using yote

here is my closest guess.

Friday
water around 78 should be as long as my heater is doing its job, phosphates definitely there.

Saturday
see friday

Completely understand Bud.
I use Salifert for testing mag.

I knew there was something I forgot to do yesterday evening, Sorry Yote! Will post yesterdays results and todays, when I get home tonight!

Evening Yote, Sundays Parameters: -

Temp: 79.8
SG: 1.024
pH: 8.4
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0.1mg/l
Nirate: 10mg/l
Carbonate Hardness: 11.7dKH
Phosphate: 0.5mg/l
Calcium: 440ppm

Todays: -

Temp: 80
SG: 1.024
Ph: 8.5 (up 0.1)
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0.1mg/l
Nirate: 10mg/l
Carbonate Hardness: 12.3dKH (up 0.6)
Phosphate: 0.5mg/l
Calcium: 460ppm (up 20)

Sunday:
Temp = 77
Salinity = 1.023
Ammonia = 0ppm
Nitrite = 0ppm
Nitrate = 20ppm
pH = 8.3

Monday:
Temp = 77
Salinity = 1.023
Ammonia = 0ppm
Nitrite = 0ppm
Nitrate = 20ppm
pH = 8.3

Obviously haven't done every day, but here are today's results:

PH - 8.4
Nitrate - .5
Nitrite - 0
Ammonia - 0
Calc - 300, hope to have it up to 420 within a day or two
Salinity - 1.025 (slowly raised it up from 1.022 a couple of weeks ago)
temp - 78 (turned up the thermostat to try to keep it at 80, since it get's to 80 with the MH lights)

Monday

Temp_ 79
Salinity- 1.025
PH- 8.2
Alk- 3.0 meq/l
Calcium- 425
Mag- 1500
Nitries,nitrates,ammonia, all 0

Today's readings:

Temp - 79
Salinity - 1.025
PH - 8.4
Alk - 10 (based on API KH test)
Calcium - 435
Ammonia - 0
Nitrites - 0
Nitrates - .5

Salinity-1.026
temp-76 came home to heater not working
alk-11
cal-420
mag-1395
PH-8.5

Friday night I'll post the reason I started this thread:D

Tonights readings:

Temp: 80
Specific Gravity: 1.024 (=)
pH: 8.5 (=)
Ammonia: 0 (=)
Nitrite: 0.3mg/l (+0.2mg/l)
Nitrate: 10mg/l (=)
Carbonate Hardness: 13.4dKH (+1.1dKH)
Phosphate: 0.5mg/l (=)
Calcium: 440pm (-20ppm)

Think I could do with a water change!!?? Plus that useless skimmer still isn't working properly!! :grumble:

OK, here are tonights tests. My main purpose in them is to track the amount of calcium used each day and extrapolate it for a week. I can then dose more effectively and test calc once a week.

Using API test kits
PH: 8.4
Ammonia: 0
Nitrites: 0
Nitrates: .5
Kh: 9 (this isn't an API test but in the same level of quality) - anyone have a recommendation of where I should try to keep this number?
Calcium: 120
Salinity: 1.024 (topped off tonight, striving for 1.025 to 1.026)
Temp: 80 (trying to keep it here as it stays here with the MH lights)

I sure hope that was a typo on your calcium Lights.I'm assuming it was supposed to be 420?
9 DKH is good.Most folks shoot for a range of 8 to 10.

Heres mine for tonight:
salinity-1.026
temp-80 Figured that was going to happen with the new halides
cal-400
alkl-11DKH
mag-1395

salinity-1.025
temp-80
ammonia-0
nitrite-0
nitrate-40
phosp-0
calcium-340
ph-8.2

my nitrates were high as heck, so just did a 20% water change a few hrs ago...probably from my feeding pattern lately(1 cube every other day).
