KH a little high?

I just got a test kit for my reef (as you guys have seen i'm taking this quite slowly) and i've found my KH to be about 16. From what I recall 12-14 is about what you want isn't it?

actually i believe i'm thinking of alkalinity that is supposed to be in the lower teens.

Anywhere from 8 on up is good. You're on the high end but should be ok.
I'm on the low end (6-8 or sometimes it slips lower) and I've already seen some growth in the sps i've had in there for just a couple weeks. Mainly covering up the exposed tissue where pieces broke off when we fragged them and polyps fully extended.

Thanks for the help, my tank's been sitting around with a fresh batch of water so I think once I get some sand and rock it will start lowering. My calcium is off the charts (higher than 520) and I think that's what's contributing to it.
