Ya, they are becoming a HUGE problem down there. They are trying to get them on the local menu and they have competitions to see who can kill the most in a day. This is why you NEVER release an exotic species into the wild, they are just destroying the native fish populations.

It sucks for ppl buying them for $40 and having ppl in the keys coming back with 20 or so killed. I saw one yesterday at the lfs going for $54.

well, they might be cheaper to buy now because they can be collect so easily, but there are still transport costs and the LFS has to make its money too. Plus more wholesalers are on the west coast, not the east.

Also it's just plain sad to see such an incredible creature have to go through a mass killing like this. +1 little fish, some species are better off being left alone.
