live rock ?

i will have my new tank , 75 gal in about 2 weeks. i am getting 50 lbs of live and 25 lbs base rock. my ? is i have been told to put the rock in first and then my substrates in after. do i need to put anything on the bottom for the rock to set on or is it ok directly on the glass?

It is ok to put the rocks on the glass...the reason for this is if you decide to get sand burrowing fish, they will not remove the sand from under the rocks, causing the rocks to fall...so most people place the rocks in first, then the substrate.

Either way you want to do it is fine. Leaving the rock on the glass allows more stability.
