I prefer halides on my tank over T5 for the "shimmer" effect, but pretty much the opinion around the block says t5 are the way to go for efficiency and heat reduction. My buddy has t5's over his 29g and has all kinds of SPS thriving. Not as much heat problems either. Just my $0.02

i have had both plus pc's and i like the t5's they are by far cooler than the mh and pc's were. with more light to the tank from my old lights.
