nano filtration

hey guys, im looking for the best type of filtration for a nano reef tank, 29 gallons, i was told by the aquatic specialist at my store that i would only need a hanging filter and some live rock. Also looking for a good quality powerhead!

not terrible advice, the hanging filter will essentially be functioning as a weak powerhead but it gives you somewhere to run carbon or other filter media if you want it. the live rock and powerhead(s) are the most important part, and though it's not completely necessary I would look into a good quality HOB skimmer (I'm assuming you aren't using a sump). If you are going to use a hanging filter I personally like the aquaclear filters, they are easy to clean and modify to your own specific needs/wants. For quality powerheads, if budget is an issue I've had good experience with the Koralia powerheads, most are less than 40 bucks and they have good performance. If budget is not an issue I would look into the ecotech vortech pumps, I love my mp10 and I think most people on here would agree they are the best powerheads money can buy. Also, back on the hanging filter, if you are going to use one my advice would be to get an extremely oversized one (I use an aquaclear 50 on my 5 gal).
