Nitrates

Oh quick ? too. I bought a emerald crab a while ago and I was just wondering if I should be worried about it eating my fish.

Also I know yellow tangs can only fit in 100 gallon tanks. But what are the chances of one surviving in a 55 gallon? I would only keep those four fish in there. I am just wondering what everyones opinion was on that.

20ppm are usually fine for fish, but some corals require less. As for the tang, I would pass. It might live for a few years, but even a small one would be stressed in a 55 gallon tank.

+1 everyone. You are right, nitrates at 20 are fine for fish. But that's as high as you want to go when you have inverts. Shrimp can be especially sensitive to nitrates.

The emerald crab is safe around your fish until it gets really big. That can take years. So I wouldn't worry about it.
