I just opened a new bag of Instance Ocean salt today. Mixed with RO/DI water and the pH (at 1.023 75.5F) is 8.54!!!! That seems quite high!

How long did you let it mix? Did you have a powerhead in the container to keep it circulating?

I had it mixed about 30 hours ago. No power head. I just let it sit in the bucket after I stirred it to make sure 99% of the salt dissolved yesterday.

I would use a power head to mix it. Plus it adds oxygen to the water.
