I have an emerald crab that today i noticed laying upside down in the sand and legs slowly moving...so i know its not a molt. i flipped it right side right and he is upside down again. is he dying? or did he attempt to molt and fell and now just trying to finish a molt? What should I do with him. Sorry no quarinteen tank...and all params are good with everything else in the tank doing well

I would leave him alone. He might be molting or he might be dying. If he's molting, you wouldn't want to disturb him. If he's still there for a couple of days, or stops moving, then I'd pull him out and consider him dead. Usually, when crabs molt they'll pick a hole in the rock somewhere, someplace you can't see. So hopefully he's not on his way out.

I think he is dying. Sorry. I have had several do just that in the past several years. I think they starve to death.

Mine just passed away the other day as well. Everything was stable and in good condition. He was missing a claw when I got him don't know if there was some sort of infection or not? But he was up side down on the sand now he's gone?
