Reflectors and Skimmer

So here I was today, punching in those magic digits to buy things online, when I realized that maybe I should ask before I jump headlong into my purchase.

First this for the skimmer Reef Octopus BH 2000 Hang on Back Protein Skimmer by CoralVue - AquaCave

and then for anyone who knows about reflectors these,

I cant help but i am curious....What is the purpose of a reflector? What exactly does it do?

Amplifies the light going into the tank to increase par.

That skimmer always gets good reviews from ppl who use them.
Both reflectors are very good.

I have that exact same skimmer.

Been running for a year on my 30 (I know over kill, but I will upgrade eventually)
Only problem I have is that it pust some larger sized bubbles into the tank. Not sure why, but nothing I do has done anything to prevent it. I just put a glass over that area so it doesnt get salt on my lighting.
