Removing big rocks

I have some base rock in my 10 gallon tank that is too big. It started cycling and has been cycling for 14 days. Can I remove the rocks and replace with smaller ones? Would it take out the stuff that has grown on it(little black marks that I don't know where they came from and are very small) Should I just take a hammer and chisel and break it into smaller pieces?

thanks

Gah! I don't have the right tools to break it.... and these rocks are as hard as...well rocks... I need to upgrade my tank already lol. can't even see it right now....I might have to take them out if that is ok.

OK thanks I was using a chisel type thing and it wasn't working....the hammer did the trick. I am still working on the scaping but I only have 1/3 of the tank left...I will update my thread later if I can(My laptop completely died and I only have a tiny inspiron mini) with pics...and I will see if I can make a video(probably not). Finally got it perfect for the fish/shrimp/snails/ and corals. Just need that diatom.
