Return Pump to Powerful?

I have a Resun 4f 4600Lph (1215gph) return pump on my 4ft x 1.5 x 1.6 tank. Is this to powerful?

if its pushing more water into your tank then the tank drains it is too powerful

I doubt it would be to much by the time you figured in head and plumbing.
You can always use a gate valve to cut the flow back if you need to.
