Im thinking about making a 10 gallon refugium for my 20gallon long. How powerful of a return pump will I need? It will be about 2 feet below the main tank.

It is totally dependent on the flow of water coming from your main tank into your sump. What kind of overflow are you planning on using, and do the know the gph for it?

If it's 200gph I'd say a 295 or 300gph pump should work for you. Just put a ball valve between the pump and tank that way you can turn down the flow a little to match your overflow.
