Hi,
I have bought an RO unit, not a top brand make, as I'm in Brunei and the choices are...er.. one. I am looking into getting a separate DI unit and pressure gauge as again I can't get them here.
Anyway, the unit is a 50GPD. It produces about 3 gallons and hour with about 5 gallons waste. Does this sound about right or should it be taking longer to produce the 3 gallons and with a lot more waste?
Must mention that it is very humid here and temperatures rarely fluctuate. When I had a freshwater, I never used a thermometer and the temp was a constant 80f. I know water temp also has an effect on an RO unit.
I also did a PH test on the water (TDS on it's way) just to check the before and after. The water straight from the tap was around 7 and the water from the RO unit was about 8-8.5. Does that sound right?
I'm new to reefing, so not sure if what I have will suffice until I can get better, or if it sounds like it's not doing a good job.
