small volcano shaped things on snails with something alive inside plz help

I just got some large snail. On their shells. several of them have one or more hard, pea sized, volcano shaped, ..things on their shells. many of them are hollow and unoccupied some have something living inside that appears to be able to sort of close up the top of the "volcano".

The snails shells have lots of coraline on them...

I hope to get some help soon. I want to make sure these are not some sort of pest before I add them to my tank.

Agreed. Barnacles most likley. I've watched them for awhile now and after a quick internet study it appears the snails have multiple small barnacles on them.
