I have a small 12 gallon tank with an eclipse top filter. I know there isn't much room to do much with it but I'm sure I could rig something up. I was just wondering what would be recommended to do for such a small tank. If I should do a small sump or something or protein skimmer and UV sterilizer to help control the cleanliness of my tank. Thanks.

there is really no reason on that size tank that you "need" to have a sump, regular waterchanges ( on a tank that size I used to change 10% weekly, I would round up to 2 gallons) should be all you need for it.. A sump or protein skimmer is not really necessary so that is up to you ...

You are better off spending your money on an RO/DI unit (if you don't already have one) than a UV sterilizer to keep your water clean! And I agree, no need for a sump.
