tank question?

hey everyone i found an old 10 gallon tank im my attac (was my dads) and it seems fine but on the glass right near the black rim is a chip the size of a half dollar and i was wandering everything else seems fine can i fill it up but not near the chip as an "extra tank" or will the tank chip more and leak?

I would fill it in with silicone sealant. Let it dry and then leak test it. It should be fine.
