TDS Readings!

Just got a tds meter, tested our tap water and it's reading at 064. Our fridge water is reading at 042. I read online that average tap water is between 140-400. We haven't hooked our RO/DI up yet.. had to order another hookup for it. Should the RO/DI read 000 before it's ready to go in our tank? Is our other water almost pure?

After it filter with an RO/DI unit you want it to read 0. Mine comes out of the RO at 2 and the DI at 0. My tap is 164.

RO/DI filters won't always be able to get water down to 0 depending on how bad the ingoing water in. I know some people who's filters can only get TDS down in the double digits.

And don't forget to toss the first few gallons before filling your reservoir. Mine fluctuates between 0 and 10, but usually stays at 0.

You are lucky! That water isn't bad at all. Here in Tucson, it's usually between 400 and 500.
