thermometers

After thinking that my tank had been running hot for a few days, I played with my chiller to lower the temp in my tank...then it dawned on me, what if its my thermometer thats mesing up, not the chiller. so didnt know a way to check it with a temperature I knew. Well the only one I could come up with was my body temperature....so I made sure it was good and clean, and I put it under my armpit for 5 min. sure enough it said I was 108, obviously 10 degrees higher than it should...Im feeling great and dang sure not sick...so this is the 2nd thermometer I have had fail me.

its been saying my tank has been 84, so I hope my tank isnt really 74.

My question is, what thermometer do yall use and what should I buy?

I use just a cheap old fashioned alcohol-based one. Digital ones are more likely to be inaccurate.

simple, yet i never thought of going old school with the alcohol thermometers....thats pretty sad on my behalf

I actually have 3 thermometers on each tank, one of those stick on ones, an alcohol one and a digital one. With all the problems heaters can have I feel safer having that redundancy, and it was only like $10 for all 3
