Water Changes

I have had my reef tank for about a year now and i do weekly 20% water changes.I was just wondering if anyone has any creative way of doing them to make it easier to do. Right now i get my r/o water add salt and mix it up till I get the right salinity. I siphon the water out of the tank into an empty bucket and then i set the mix water on top of the tank and then siphon it in. My issue with this is i always make a mess. I get water on the sides of the tank and then have to clean it all off. I just thought there had to be an innovative way to do it without all the leg work with pumps or something. So does everyone do it like me or am I just challenged?:frustrat:

EDIT: I totally just looked at your signature. FWIW, a 55 really isn't big enough for a Sailfin.

I use a 500 gph pump and 1/2 tubing to remove the old and add the new water to my tank. It's made the whole process a lot easier and a lot less messy.

I use a MaxiJet powerhead connected to some tubing to suck the old water out and put the new water in.

I also use a pump and tubing...takes me about 10mins, and no mess.
